VRChat Prison Cell block D-5 update, again.
And here is another update to the VRChat “Prison Cell Block D-5”.
- Recapture system that I broke when I improved the item return system is now fixed.
- There is a video player now, and it is wired into the Warden system, just like the rest.
- Three of the cells now have a very small TV screen, I’m still working on making them toggle-able (that’s what the buttons on the console are for).
- The padded cell doors now muffle voices and avatar sounds.
I plan on tightening some of the existing systems in the near future. For instance, opening & closing the doors need to be decoupled into distinct messages to make them more consistent. There have been a few language updates to Udon scripts. I need to learn how to leverage them.
The information page has been updated to reflect the changes.
List of things to do
- Tightening security on what can & can’t be reached by players.
- Map-version of my stun-prod for the Warden.
- Interrogation chair, my beloved.
- Mirror/seats/collider options as persistent preference.
- A more intuitive way to tell cuffed players where their wrists should be.
- Smarter mirrors that don’t require to be toggled on/off manually.
- Move all preferences (maybe even the warden UI) into a dedicated local menu.
- Notification to all players whenever the warden role moves to a new player.
- AFK Detection on the Warden, this is a problem on long-running instances.
VRChat Prison Cell block D-5 update!
- Re-baked all the lighting, the artifacts are gone!
- Added the fillable food bowls (5 max).
- Items now respawn back into the map if taken out of bounds.
- Cells now also re-capture on rejoin.
- Added the media control console (not functional yet).
- An introduction page also accessible within the world.
- Added a button to open the map store page (people didn’t even know it existed).
List of things I still want to add:
- Simple Media player, with at least YouTube playlist support, locked to the warden, obviously.
- TVs in some of the cells (the Warden will decide what you’ll watch)
- Padded cell & ISO cell soundproofing, yeap… (probably sooner than later)
- More options for the bowls (food, but also using it as an ashtray).
- A proper, RP-friendly manual (some kind of clipboard).
- A light switch for the isolation cell (maybe).
- Stun-prod for the warden (or alternatively, compliance club).
- Baton/Prod rattling on the bars.
Cell Block D-5 update!
I’ve just pushed another update to the Cell Block D-5 map in VRChat!
Now you should see a pair of floating handcuffs where a cuffed player is if they have you blocked, (or if you blocked them) rather than the handcuffs teleporting to 0,0,0.
Cell Block D-5 Update!

Happy Halloween everyone! I spent a good chunk of this week refining an update to my VRChat map “Cell Block D-5“, it now features handcuffs!
- Grab the handcuffs and drop them on someone’s wrists to bind them!
- When cuffed, keep your wrists together, or you will be blinded.
- You can’t remove the handcuffs yourself, someone else has to take them off.
- The warden role can “lock” the handcuffs (red state) when holding the cuffs by pressing the trigger/use button.
- Locked handcuffs can only be moved & interacted with by the warden.
- Escaping by re-joining the instance will not save you.
- To cuff yourself you have to grab the cuffs in one hand and put them on your other wrist.
I’ve tested this feature to the best of my abilities, but please report any bug that you find.
I currently can’t think of a good way to make this work nicely for desktop users, so they are currently excluded from cuffing.
I make this map for fun and to satisfy my own twisted curiosity, but if you like it, feel free to subscribe to my Patreon.
Prison Cell Block D-5 update!

A new update to my VRChat world has been released! The Prison Cell Block D-5 now supports VRC Light Volumes. I’ve also updated all the shaders on dynamic objects and slightly improved the labels on doors, the changelog, and the warden system.
I’m tempted to move things like information on how this world work and the changelog to a little clipboard rather than having things written on walls like now.
Cell Block D-5 update
I’ve just finished updating Cell Block D-5 both on Second Life and VRChat. One of the narrow cells has been transformed into a hybrid, furnished variant. (Because of how small it is, collisions are disabled on the furnitures). It brings a bit more variety as I don’t think the cell block really needed 3 identical narrow cells.
- On the VRChat version I’ve also improved the quality of the lighting with less noise in the dark cells.
- On the Second Life version I’ve added an ambient piano track that plays once (it restarts sometimes, not sure why, but it shouldn’t be too upsetting) when you arrive at the location.
VRChat Cell Block D-5 update and a reminder!
I’ve updated the Cell Block D-5 map so that the warden role can be transferred (and locked), for those cases where the host wants to go AFK. I’ve also done some more work on the language support (Polish/Russian/Ukrainian).
Also, a friendly reminder that you now have less than 12 hours to get the Halloween Specials if you still planned on getting any. The clock is ticking~
Prison Cell Block D-5 update!
I’ve just pushed a major update to the Cell block D-5 map on VRChat!
Changes:
- Script rewrite, again. It shouldn’t change much, but there is less networked scripts overall.
- Lowered light map resolution, I see no difference personally, but this pushes the map back under the 30Mb mark.
- Added a bit of a “guard post” next to the isolation cell, just a table with a couple stools.
- Every instance now has a Warden! Most of the time it will be the instance owner, but in public and group instances, someone else will be selected.
- The name of the warden is displayed on the wall near the guard post.
- The Warden has the ability to lock and unlock doors, locked doors cannot be open by any means.
- You cannot use the respawn menu option to escape cells anymore unless you are the Warden (soft-locking prevention).
- Everyone spawns in the corridor by default now rather than inside a random cell.
- Experimental Multi-language support (English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean).
Vergilius elbow cuffs and other things
I started making the Vergilius elbow cuffs. The ring spacing is much larger than on the collar and cuffs but I don’t think I can insert an extra ring in without getting the opposite problem (too tight).
I also attempted to make a modempunk-ish keypad to use as a “secure” elevator call button on the cell block floor in dead realm but it doesn’t really “vibe” with me so far. It has the chunky keyboard keys I was picturing in my mind but the rest lacks style. Maybe I need to come up with something a bit more futuristic.
I’ve pushed 2-3 updates to the VRChat cell block: specular lightmaps (something it really lacked compared to the SL version), toned down lighting and emission (which felt a little too bright), and I also fixed some normal mapping issues. I want to make a few more additions before calling it good enough: a table and a couple chairs to act as a guard post, spawn control, and a way for the instance owner to secure the doors shut.
I was sick yesterday and slept all afternoon, (you can imagine what it did to my sleep cycle) motivation is pretty low.
Prison Cell Block D-5 update!
This update brings the padded cells & the pipework additions that I did for Second Life, to the Prison Cell Block D-5 in VRChat. Enjoy~
